About the Artist
Essentially self-taught, I was originally attracted to the English equine artists of
the 18th century and other artists such as Jacques-Laurent Agasse and W.
Smithson Broadhead. Emile Adam and Sir Alfred Munnings have influenced and
inspired me as well. My interest in plein aire painting comes from a love of the
American impressionists and the California coast painters of the 20th century.

Located just minutes from Keeneland Racecourse and the sales, I get to see
some of the most beautiful athletes and young prospects in the world. But as the
owner of two retired racehorses, Bentley (the grey), and Archie (the chestnut), I
most enjoy being mother to these two wonderful equines and ride them when I
can. Bentley was a one-time winner and Archie was a very expensive Saratoga
sale yearling who broke a knee while in training and never raced. They are only
two of thousands of racehorses which deserved a second chance at life, a
cause I strongly believe in. On my Links of Interest page is a list of adoption
groups as well as other links you may find useful.

The felines you see are my studio companions, both strays I rescued. They
spend much of their time in my picture window watching the world go by.

My studio is open by appointment, or by chance, calling to let me know you'd
like to visit is suggested (859) 987-2728.

Thank you for visiting my site. Happy riding!

Greetings!

Though born and raised in New Orleans,
the Bluegrass has been my home for
over 20 years. The love of horses and
my passion for painting came together
when I began painting portraits of
racehorses in 1990 while working behind
a desk in the Thoroughbred industry
writing pedigrees and magazine copy.

Primarily an oil painter, I also work in
pastel and charcoal. In the last few years,
I've expanded my repetoire to include
landscapes, bovines and other subjects.
I've also taught adult beginners,
something which I thoroughly enjoy.
